Global Warming is “hot” topic. (PUN intended). There are many organizations, agencies, scientists, universities and committees that are studying this issue with the utmost scrutiny and attention. Yet so far no one can be completely sure. So pushing clean air and green house gas emission regulations is not moving along as fast as some would like. It would seem that 1/2 of people believe in Global Warming and 1/2 do not. So how do you work towards cleaner air and environment? You drop the focus on Global Warming and simply focus on Pollution in general.
1 simple point that I would like to make, that could get things rolling along faster, is that a MERE 100 years ago, you could quite literally walk up to almost any body of water in our country and scoop a handful to drink! Now an unbelievable percentage of the “fresh” water in our country is NOT DRINKABLE! WHAT? You can’t drink the water? I’m not talking about a pond where cows poop and bath. I am talking about the rivers and lakes that criss cross our country. The water is so bad that in MANY rivers and lakes such as the Colorado River in Austin TX and the Chattahoochee in Atlanta are posted that you cannot even eat the FISH you catch from those waters! The lakes in Nashville and MANY other cities are so polluted from boat engines and exhaust that there is literally a “film” that floats on top of the water and adheres to your body when you swim. It is disgusting! The mere fact that bottled water has become and billion dollar industry, when at one time, talk of that possibility was a joke, should indicate to someone that we need to make change!
Personally, I don’t think some people really want to clean things up. I think there is too much money to be made in bottled water, crude oil and such.
