Efficiency in planning vs. doing…

Spending excessive amounts of time trying to figure the most efficient way of moving a pile of rocks often wastes more time and money than simply moving the rocks by hand and moving on.

Some people will have meeting after meeting for months trying to figure out the most efficient way to complete a project. What’s wrong with that is the planning itself is inefficient. If it takes longer and more money to figure out the best way to do something then it does to just do it a less efficient way, then you have not saved anything. 1 month to figure it out or 2 weeks of just doing it. When you weigh the cost savings during the month long debate, figure in the savings in man hours and salary by “just doing it” and moving on top the next project.
