Ba-Boing! Goes another Harley cable
OK I am officially tired of this. I broke another throttle cable on my Harley this weekend That makes 3 in the 18,000 miles I have put on my 2006 bike so far. I was just riding down the road and “dink”. Both the Harley Dealer and the mechanic I use don’t see why they are breaking. This time I am going to change the cable myself and I am not going to buy the Chinese made Harley cables. Motion Pro makes cables for my bike and I use them for my other bikes. They are teflon lined and Made in USA! Hopefully they will fare better. Also when I route the new cable I will have a chance to look at the full path for sharp edges or burrs that may be making this happen.
The cable broke about 9 miles away from home. I decided to nurse it home at idle. I made it all the way home, up and down hills, through stop lights and intersections using my clutch and gears and no throttle! It was a challenge but I made it and learned alot about what each gear is capable of and just how freaking torquey the Harley V Twin really is! My Goldwing or most inline 4’s probably couldn’t have made it up those hills.
Any way, I was surprisingly not mad but rather excited to have completed the challenge. Fun Fun Fun!
